Grownups love Halloween just as much as kids, and although we may not actively trick-or-treat through our neighborhood like we did as children, it’s still great fun to dress up in costumes and party with our friends.
This Halloween, add some local treats to your cooler with Magic Mango and Magic Orange! Here are some great ways to pair a little Magic with your Halloween festivities.
Citrus helps to balance your palate after munching on something spicy. An ice-cold Magic Orange is a great way to cool your mouth from the spice of salsa, while also moving the salt from the chips along the tongue.
The smoothness and richness of avocados are set off nicely with the hint of mango in Magic Mango. Mango also tempers the sharpness of onions in guacamole.
Hot dogs are a favorite at Halloween parties. If you’re topping it with mustard, the Culinary Institute of America says mango and mustard are a winning pair. Those that like chili on their dogs might consider pairing it with Magic Orange, as orange complements cumin, garlic, and black pepper which are common spices in chili. The malt and wheat in both beers mingle with the hot dog bun nicely as well.
Pizza topped with cheese and classic toppings like pepperoni or sausage wash down smoothly with the mellow orange zest of Magic Orange, allowing the Italian herbs and the lightly spicy meats to shine through.
Pair Magic Mango with a local favorite—Hawaiian-style pizza with ham and pineapple. The tropical flavors of mango and pineapple make a great flavor chorus. The mango essence also plays a role in balancing the saltiness of the ham.
Sipping an ice-cold beer with popcorn helps to break it down and send it on its way after the initial crunch. Try a Magic Orange with buttery popcorn, as the touch of orange helps clean the palate of salt, while the mango flavor of Magic Mango complements the creamy caramel flavor of caramel corn.
This is the season for pumpkins! One of our favorite Caribbean combos is pumpkin and mango, whether it’s a sweet or savory dish. But Magic Orange also pairs deliciously with pumpkin, as orange is a definite go-to ingredient to pair with clove, nutmeg, or cinnamon which are regular ingredients in various pumpkin dishes and sweets.
It is Halloween, after all (we won’t tell if you steal a little candy from the kids’ trick-or-treat bags), so why not pair some of those treats with beer? Yes, it’s a thing, especially with chocolate! Pair Magic Orange with dark chocolate and chocolate with nuts, raisins, or wafers—think along the lines of a Kit-Kat Bar, Goobers, and Raisinets. Mango with nuts, coconut, and caramel-based treats makes Magic Mango a nice companion to Halloween classic candies like Almond Joy, Milk Duds, Snickers, and even candy corn.
Punch bowl beverages are go-to's at Halloween parties, and beer is becoming a popular finishing touch in punch recipes.
Two of our favorites use sherbet or sorbet, so in Aruba’s warm climate they might melt down quickly in a large punch bowl—we recommend doing these super easy punch drinks by the glass. The festive orange color of the punch is perfect for the Halloween theme!
1 small scoop of orange sherbet in a glass topped with Magic Orange.
1/2 scoop of mango sorbet and 1/2 scoop coconut ice cream in a glass topped with Magic Mango and a drizzle of grenadine.
